I’m Jen, an Interior Designer, DIY content creator, wife, mom of two feral little boys, and very much unapologetically myself. Almost two years ago, we made a wild, slightly unhinged leap. We left everything in Arizona, where my design business was just starting to take off, so my husband could chase his dream of law school in Lawrence, Kansas.
When we landed here, I felt completely lost. But something unexpected happened, I started designing again, but this time in our own home. Because let’s be real… I’m an Interior Designer who moved into an ugly, outdated house, and I was dying to remodel! But with my husband in law school, we didn’t have the budget to hire everything out and create the home I envisioned. So I dove headfirst into DIY and design. Learning, figuring things out, making mistakes, and slowly transforming our house one project at a time.
Somewhere in the middle of all of that, I started to find myself again.
I began turning this house into a modern English cottage; layering in character, charm, and pieces that feel collected and lived-in. What started as a way to cope with the stressy, messy, & depressy turned into something so much bigger. It reignited my love for design. And along the way, I realized I didn’t want to keep that to myself.
I’m still a content creator, sharing DIY projects and transformations, but I’ve also stepped back into taking on design clients in Kansas & nationwide, and I’m loving it more than ever! At the same time, I feel called to share more. More design, more sourcing, more behind-the-scenes, more of what actually goes into creating a home that feels intentional and elevated.
Because I truly believe this:
Every house should feel like home.
Whether you’re in your forever home, your starter home, or a rental. Whether you hire me as your designer or decide to DIY, my mission is to help you create a space that feels beautiful, functional, and uniquely yours.
This blog is where it all comes together.
I wish we could all gather in person - sit around, swap stories, laugh a little too loud, and have a drink together, but for now, this will have to do. This space is where I’ll share the DIY projects, the design tips, the sourcing secrets, the “Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget” finds, and the real-life behind-the-scenes of building a home & business, all while navigating motherhood, budgets, and everything in between.
Around here, it’s not perfect… but it’s real (and a slight shitshow). There will be trial and error, wins and what-was-I-thinking moments, probably some cursing, definitely some beer… and a whole lot of figuring it out as we go. I'm so glad you're here, and I can't wait to share everything!
